Our Living Hope Fellowship is a relatively new church serving Wylie and the surrounding area. The church began in February of 2023 with a handful of families, moved by the Holy Spirit to meet in homes with the intent of forming a Global Methodist Church.
With a welcoming spirit, and motivated by the love of Jesus Christ for their community, those families met together, worshipping weekly for eight months with no pastor. Pastor Alan was hired part-time later that year and is now the full-time pastor.
Our Living Hope Fellowship is a church that understands three things well. First, people matter to God, and therefore had better matter to us too. Second, people are longing for the kind of community only a healthy and thriving church can provide. And third, because these first two things are true, we want to invite others into the adventure of creating together the kind of church where people can encounter God, grow in community, and change the world.

Pastor, Alan Hitt
Alan is the first and only pastor Our Living Hope Fellowship has had. He and his wife, Kelly met at a Methodist church in Waco in 1983, were married in 1985, and have five children and three grandchildren.
“The part of ministry that gets me the most excited is building and being part of a team of people who learn, train and work together in a community of love and unshakable joy. There is nothing like the feeling a healthy church has in looking back on their work and realizing that by God’s grace, they were able to accomplish far more than they ever imagined they could. I am beyond thrilled to serve the people of Our Living Hope Fellowship as your pastor and see what it is God will accomplish through us as we follow Jesus together.”
Jo Lynn Cookus, Director of Worship
Jo Lynn is a retired Texas public school music teacher with 36 years teaching experience at all grade levels. She has also been a church music director and worship leader since 1985 directing adult and children’s choirs, handbell choirs, and Christian musicals. Her ensembles have traveled in the US and Internationally to bring Jesus through music to the world. “My greatest joy, purpose and mission in my life is to praise Jesus and to share His love and hope with the world through music and drama.”
Marvel Peterson, Director of Special Needs Ministry
Marvel has two adult special needs sons and is very aware of the challenges. Knowing the parents of special needs children need a break, especially families who have aged out of the school system, she wanted to provide a safe place for them to leave their children one night a month.
She feels blessed to continue this wonderful Special Needs Ministry at Our Living Hope Fellowship.
Marvel gives thanks to Carol Brady at Custer Road UMC, she was a great source of information and inspiration.
Our Living Hope Fellowship is a part of the Mid-Texas Conference of the Global Methodist Church. From the Global Methodist Church website:
Our Mission | The Global Methodist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe.
In our worship, we desire to surrender to and be fully devoted to one God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are passionate about what is important to God.
Jesus calls those who follow Him to love God wholeheartedly and love their neighbors as themselves. Our desire is to demonstrate to the world the extravagant love of God in the person of Jesus Christ.
We have been entrusted with a lifesaving and transforming message that we must share with others. Our witness is bold, compelling and fearless. Our mission advances when individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ and join God’s mission to make more disciples.
Our Vision | Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the Global Methodist Church envisions multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ throughout the earth who flourish in scriptural holiness as we worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
Through our ministries, we desire to share the whole counsel of God with all peoples and to advance the presence and fulfillment of the Kingdom of God in every part of the world and at all levels of societies and cultures. The Global Methodist Church is committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures, and the work of the Holy Spirit in conveying God’s truth and grace to all people.
We are a global church that recognizes and deploys the gifts and contributions of each part of the church, working as partners in the gospel with equal voice and leadership.
Our witness to the world is marked by mutual love, concern, sharing, and a focus on those who are most vulnerable. We watch over one another in love and bear witness to the transforming power of the Good News as we humbly, but boldly, strive to serve others as ambassadors of Christ!
